Hey, will the max score_mode help you here or did I misunderstand your question? See http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/query-dsl-function-score-query.html#_using_function_score
Or do you want to reuse that maximum score inside of a computation of the function score?
