Thanks for the detailed report. The user authentication triggered a bug [1] which has been fixed in master - I've already pushed the nightly builds which you can try out [2]. It would be great if you could try it out and report back if it works for you.

If you want to stick with M3 until RC1 is released, disabling user 
authentication should fix the issue.
