When I make a call to, say, _cat/allocation, does it only check local node state, or does it make calls to other nodes in the cluster to verify? I was looking comparing _cat behavior to _cluster/health under heavy load, and the two seem to perform the same under load.
At the same time, I tried _nodes/_local/stats/name, and it performed much better than either.
