Hi, We don't support storing indices on HDFS. However, we have a plugin that integrates Elasticsearch with Hadoop and allows to get data back and forth between Hadoop and Elasticsearch easily: http://www.elasticsearch.org/overview/hadoop/
For the record, indices stored in HDFS would be significantly slower than indices stored locally.
