Hi Jean My connection with Elbing dates from the 1600s but I think I can give you tips.
www.familysearch.org has a catalgoue of the parish records microfilmed by the Mormons. Much of the Elbing records have been filmed as well. You have to find your nearest Family History Center and ask the people there to order the films you are interested in. It would be a lot easier if you knew Herman's approximate birth date. It seems that you have to order films for more than one parish.
