Hola a todos:
Os reenvío un correo que acabo de recibir en otra de mis listas- que me
ha dejado perpleja....
Espero que por aquí no se llegue a algo parecido.

Hello Dear Webheads
I always come to you when I'm in trouble. :)
I'm still working on the workshops I told you about. Thanks for that.
This mail is for another problem.
The department I work for at a local university decided that as from next
semester (starting Aug. 5th) we'll have f2f English lessons reduced by half
and that the other half of the lessons will be done online using Dokeos.
We used to have 2.5 hours a week of f2f classes, now we'll have 1.25 f2f and
1.25 online.
Online lessons will be paid at 1/3 the price of f2f ones.
We are four teachers in the English unit and each of our salaries will be
reduced in 2/6
To make matters worse, the university will provide only the platform and
support. We'll have to create our own material to use in our online lessons
(based on the syllabus, of course)
What do you think of that? Have you had similar problems?
Well, I'm happy the university has finally decided to add the virtual
component to the English lessons, but they are doing it for the wrong
reasons and at our expense.
Well, that's what's happening here with the introduction of virtual lessons
into Universities.
Ah, I had forgotten to add that in another local university they have
completely outsourced the English program.
Students enroll at the local university, but all the English program is done
online. This university bought courses from India (they include online
tutoring). Then when the students finish the course, the university gives a
certification that they have successfully completed the English course at
the University. So, they don't use teachers of English anymore.
I'm really stating to worry about my job.
Thanks for listening.
Violeta
