Better yet, turn on the attenuator and note the dramatic improvement in signal-to-noise ratios on the lower bands. I have the attenuator on for 80 & 40M, both pre-amp and attenuator off on 30 and most of the time on 20M and the pre-amp on for 17, 15, 12 & 10M. I usually have the pre-amp on for 160M.
