Mike,
Many ham radio software packages out there have that exact same flaw. I usually use the Windows RunAs. feature to run an application as an admin to get around (just find the exe in Windows Explorer and do a right mouse click, select your administrator account and provide the password). This allows me to run the rest of the bunch as a normal User and be protected against many viruses, worms etc. You can also write a cmd script that will make it a little bit easier and quicker (runas.exe /user:Administrator "command". Note: I strongly encourage anybody with Windows 2000 and above to run normal applications (IE, Office, any MSFT software, etc.) with a non-Administrator account. I have been doing this for a while now with great results. The system is much more stable since can prevent little scripts, downloads to do evil things. You are basically in charge and can control what any application can do. And, also, never browse the web as an Administrator. If you need more information, drop me a line. 73, Andreas, KU7T -----Forwarded Message----- From: Mike Walkington <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: K2 and Logger 32 Date: Tue, 08 Jun 2004 21:03:00 +1000 Hi, Feel free to post this to the Elecraft reflector. I had to send it directly because I have outsmarted myself with respect to e-mail addresses since I moved from Seattle to Australia. I only just noticed that I have subscribed to elecraft with an e-mail address that I can no longer use to send e-mail. Anyway, I have been using my K2 and Logger 32 for 12 months or so (using Kenwood settings as suggested) and I love it. Logger 32 is a great program. My only problem is that I installed it under XP home edition using an admin account and I have problems opening it in a user account. I have not got to the bottom of this yet and the Logger 32 forum has not yet touched on this one.
