While at Lobstercon this past weekend, in a moment of true insanity, I decided to try operating in the IARU HF contest as a 20M pedestrian mobile station with my KX1 .
I ran 1 watt into a 4ft base loaded 20M telescopic whip attached to the rig's
BNC connector and a 14.5 ft trailing wire attached to one of the screws holding the back of the case on. Standing out in the middle of a field at the campground with the KX1 in my hand, I managed to work 3 stations in about 30 minutes of operating with the best DX being F5VHY. Is this fun or what?
