Bill W9LR just bought a used K2 he's lurking here someplace. It's S# 529 and he brought it over here today. I spent about an hour realigning it and finding the low audio problem, turned out to be some bad solder joints and one component that was never soldered. Remember the Mantra, check the soldering, check the soldering, check the soldering and when you are done check the soldering again.
Anyhow it's working very good now and I've just ordered all the latest mods for it, upgrade version A to B, Key Clicks ect, ect. I'm sure Bill is chomping at the bit to get it back and take it home and play with it. But at least he found time not only to bring the K2 here but to return my KX1 that I loaned him. You'll notice he's pretty active on the Fox Hunts and usually gets the foxii early. Of course I had to complain that he keeps sending out that he's running 5 watts when he's really running 3-1/2 with the KX1 but he doesn't care. It seems between the loan of the KX1 and seeing my and Andy's (W9NJY) K2's and Rick (NK9G) K1 he just couldn't bear it anymore and had to have a K2. Now I've figured out the way to sell Elecraft products is the same way I sold Kenwood 2-way for years. Give them the radio for a couple weeks and then just try and take it back.
