Most fishing tackle stores sell fishing rod blanks for those who build their own rods...Long blanks can be a challenge to transport...Fishing rod ferrules in a wide variety of sizes, and ferrule cement can be bought at these tackle stores and the blank can be cut and ferruled...They also sell surf fisherman's sand spikes which is nothing more than a tube with a point on it that can be pushed down into the sand...The fishing rod is then inserted into the tube..Cabella used to sell fishing rod blanks and rod building supplies...I don't know if they still do...
