Is there a standard setup for the paddles with a keyer? I've just finished building a KX1 and I have a K2 and with both of these the keyer is set up to send dahs with the left paddle and dits with the right paddle. Yet if the bug was the precursor of the present day keyer it seems that the reverse should be the default or normal setting. Anybody help me with this?

Actually, the timing is very, very consistent from keyer to keyer. The biggest difference is in choosing whether you want to use Mode A or Mode B keying. Some folks can switch from one mode to another easily, others have a very hard time. So you might want to consider which mode you plan to use. There's a good discussion of the modes at: http://tinyurl.com/6dmc3 Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I'm sure there are timing differences in all of them, but I'm about to (finally, after 27 years of hamming) going to learn how to use paddle. Maybe even the darn Bencher paddles my parents gave me for Christmas. Christmas of 1979, I think. I suppose I could carry the K2 and a small power supply around with me, but I thought maybe just a small keyer would be easier for practice. -- Hisashi T Fujinaka - [EMAIL PROTECTED] BSEE(6/86) + BSChem(3/95) + BAEnglish(8/95) + MSCS(8/03) + $2.50 = latte _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
