Hi Elecrafters: I was almost finished doing the toroids in the KPA100 when my Hakko 808 desoldering tool went on the blink.
I find it an indispensable tool for stripping and tinning the leads. All of a sudden it hardly gets hot at all. Just barely melts solder at the tip. I've had the unit for a year and a few months with no problems. I've checked around, cleaned out the pipe, the solder collection unit and filter. Tried changing the temp setting. The pump works fine. I suspect the heating element. Is this a common fault? Any suggestions? Would this be a warrantee item?
