Howdy Lee,
The reason seems obvious to me. The Elecraft rigs are so much fun to use on CW that we, as a group, are on the air running CW more often than those using lesser rigs. I've tried listening and sending with one of those lesser rigs and found myself not enjoying it enough to want to repeat the experience. Using an Elecraft rig on CW is much like breathing. I don't need to think about it I just do it.

PS There are also quite a few K2s ~4800, K1s ~2000, and KX1s ~1000 so we use up a lot of the RF real estate.
