The Weller station is still under Weller warranty -- IF less than 1 year old.
I would definitely contact Weller / Cooper Tools for warranty repair.

Here is the Adobe Acrobat warranty informaiton, note that out of warranty work
can be expensive.

Likely the problem is within the Weller base unit's electronics or possibly the
temperature probe inside the iron. Save yourself some $$ and hold off on an
iron purchase that you may not need (this is NOT a TCP series - where an iron
change is 95% possibility of the problem). Call them Monday.

Well, I didn't pay too much attention to the recent thread concerning solder
stations because I have a less than one year old Weller WESD51. I have been
very happy with it until last night. While working on my KD1JV AT Sprint III
the digital readout starting bouncing all over the place. Sometimes the iron
will heat up and at other times not at all. The temp is reading 850deg most
of the time and I can't set the temp at all.

I guess I could replace the pencil and see if that solves the problem. With
tax and all that would be about $35 but I'm not sure that will solve the
problem.

Anyone had this problem with this station?
