When I use the K2/100 to drive an amp in a contest, CW or SSB, I can't keep my hand on the heat sink. Running about 40-50w to drive the amp. Fan on K2/100 runs continuously when running stations. There doesn't seem to be any ill effects. N2TK, Tony

The top gets very hot, but not so hot you can't place your hand on top of the heat sink. It's uncomfortable, but not painful. On SSB, the heat sink gets very warm, but not quite so hot as CW after running a couple of hours. In both cases, the fan runs continuously.
