The KAT100 does not use the Serial Port to talk to the K2 it uses the
AuxBus. When you assembled it and put the cables together they were some
instructions that told you to be careful as to not plug the cable that is
the serial into the KAT100 or the KAT100 cable to a serial port as you
will blow out the RS232 chip. Maybe you unintentionally hooked up the
wrong cable one day and blew the chip.

Then you have different serial ports (KIO's), the one in your QRP lid
and
the one in the KPA100. Sounds like the RS232 tranceiver in the KPA100
failed. The RS232 is not used to talk to the KAT100 that is done with
auxbus functions that are on the same cable but different pins. That's
why
the wiring is different on the 2 plugs, with the auxbus plug going to
the
KAT100 and the RS232 plug going to your computer.

I have an unusual problem may some one can help with
My K2/100 has stopped talking to my computer.
I have tried 2 computers thinking it was the serial port but no
I redid the cable and still nothing
Finally I changed the amp lid with the QRP lid and it all works fine.
I have a KAT 100 tuner as well and the rig does talk to the tuner and
everything on the amp and tuner works. ie power, tune, antenna
switching.
The rig just doesnt talk to the computer. Like I said it works with the
IO
on the qrp lid and the settings on the computers are correct and the IO
is
on on both the KIO and the K100
Any thoughts
