Your readings are typical for what my KX1 produces operating off of internal batteries and according to the specifications given in the manual. With an external 13.8 vdc supply mine delivers: 40 meters = 4 watts 20 meters = 4.5 watts The power output depends a great deal upon the supply voltage.
