I picked up an IC-pin-straightener a while back from Radio Shack. Sorry I don't have the part number, but it cost about $10.00 or so and is really simple to use. You just put the IC into this plastic thing and squeeze it and all the oins get straightened out. One side is used for the smaller IC's and the other for the larger ones.
It takes me longer to find the thing than to use it! If anyone is interested, I'll try to track down the part number and see if it is still being sold.
