I found 3 blocks of foam in our shipping department. 5-in wide by 2-in deep by 1-in thick. I stacked two of them on top of each other and put the third one in front of the stack. The KX1 fits perfectly. I use an external paddle. I also put another stack of 2 next to the antenna connector to support the Elecraft balun while it is connected to the KX1. That works nicely too.
