Paul, if I understand your description correctly, then the KX1 is being carried by the BNC connector when it's held by the lanyard. The BNC connector is *not* connected to the case. It is only soldered to pads at one end of the PC-board inside. I would expect that you are in serious danger of breaking the PC board if much strain is applied to the BNC connector.
