Wow, great turn out folks to set a NEW RECORD. 33 checks total for both nets! We also had four NCS folks running the net: N0SS, Tom; W0NTA, Dick; K1EV, Bill; plus yours truly. Made for a lot of interesting signal passing. I tried to get Rick and Bert hooked up again. I could hear both of them and so could Tom. I know they did not quite make contact during the net but I know they would try afterward. I hope they got it done so Bert can claim WAS.

We did not get any new states tonight but there were a number of new faces. Seven of them to be exact. Conditions were interesting because I could hear the East Coast rather well while they were just hopping over Tom in Missouri. Then I got a fill on a serial number from Dick for Tim in Michigan. Ric's K1 was booming into Oregon at S8 levels while Rick's KX1 was doing very, very well with S5 to S7 levels. Both Tom and Bill, K1EV were at painful levels for me so I need to get a faster finger on the RF gain!

40 meters was noisy but we still had quite a turnout there. Twelve folks and four of them new to the net. The best one was a Tuna Tin 2 from Virgina. Tom caught the particulars but I got about half copy on Bob's mighty 150 mW! If the noise had been lower copy would have been fine. It was not his rig but the QRN. Great job guys.

W9OPV? - ? - ? - ? Very weak signal as the noise came up strongly. Sorry :(

At the end of the second net N7VS called back but copy was pretty poor. I thought he was in Washington so I tuned my NS G5RV and tried again. No better. Now I find he is in Portland! Well now I know the problem. I should have been using the two cans and a string method! Can't wait to get some rope and hoist that large loop into the fir trees. Then I'll start the very belated 80 meter Elecraft Net. Then I can work poor Fred down in California without a 2000 mile relay :) But soon he will be in Tucson sipping cold drinks and sending CW with his KX1 (new rig?? what SN?) from poolside. Can't wait to harass him while he basks in Arizona sunshine and the infamy of his wee rig :) I can reach AZ Fred!! The Elecraft Net was fun as always. But without the help of the three NCS folks (Tom, Dick, and Bill) it would not have been as easy. Thank you very much guys!

Any errors in the above lists will be remedied both on the Reflector and in my database as quickly as I receive the errata.

Thank you and 73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
