Thomas, I don't know the design details, but I have a good suspicion that the top frequency limit of the MAR-1 MMIC amplifier exceeds the noise characteristic of the noise generating diode (D2) and the circuit board layout limitations. For more information on calibrated noise sources, take a look at the 2005 ARRL Handbook starting on page 25-27, there is one design there that may go as high as 2.5 GHz with critical construction techniques and using chip resistors and capacitors.
