Hi folks, just thought I would send a quick report on my CW progress since many of you guys have helped me many times over the last 18 months. I've been practising head copy off tape at 20wpm for many months now coupled with on air qso at about 15wpm, well my cw copy has been steadily improving but slowly, until yesterday, I was just listening around 80m and found myself copying in my head at around 22wpm very easily (mind you it was good code) , something has clicked into place, I don't know why but it just seems to be so much easier all of a sudden, the small words are just copied automatically and I seem to be able to hold more characters in my head for the longer ones. I had a real long rag chew last night at about 18wpm with almost 100% copy in my head. Wow this is a real breakthrough, at last I really feel comfortable with cw. It's taken about 2years and at least 30mins a day on most days plus the on air time, I feel a real sense of accomplishment. For any guys who are still learning cw my advice is to keep at it, it may take a long time but it's worth it. I've always had trouble with copying to paper above about 15wpm, I find the co-ordination difficult, so I gave it up months ago and just concentrated on head copy, I think that was a good move for me.
BTW the K1 is going great.
