Chas,

I use two mobile "ham stick" antennas for my K1 - 20 and 40 meters. I've attached a mobile truck mirror mount onto a tent stake. When I travel, the ham sticks (broken down) are about 4 feet in length. I put my K1, batteries, key and the mount/stake combo in a cushioned lunch bag. I also include four radials made from speaker wire (splitting the wire apart). This makes for a very compact carry along. When I make it to my site, I choose the appropriate antenna, put it together (2 parts) and then screw it into the mirror mount. I then push the antenna into the ground, then attach and spread out the radials. The radio is connected and I'm ready to go!

Works great for me!
