-------------- As you can see, you're in good company with a lot of other 'turtles'! Whatever produces the least chance of error is the best approach for each builder. In the newer manuals (KX1, XV transverters, etc.) you'll still find components installed in groups, whenever appropriate, but no longer is there a specific recommendation to hold off soldering unless there's a danger of filling an adjacent solder pad on some of the more densely-packed boards like the T1 Automatic Antenna Tuner. One at a time or solder 'em as a group, either way is FB as long as it's the way that works best for you.
