I have never purchased extended warrantees on electronics, but I may start. Lead is being outlawed in electronics in Europe, and most of the rest of the world is going the same way. I work in automotive electronics, and have been aware this was coming for years, but our customers are now starting to demand lead-free products. There is lots of work going on to figure out how to make reliable products without lead, but I expect there will be lots of problems.
