Tom, There are software solutions for this "problem" that some are happy with - I refer to something like HRD which is highly configurable and can put most any function on one of its "buttons". That along with the K3 macro capability can solve the "lack of a button" problem for those who are willing to use a computer with the K3.
But for those who prefer to operate with no computer, then that is a valid point when the buttons you want to use are not on the front panel. The PF keys are one possible solution, as are the K3 macro capabilities.
