It's an electret. The Yamaha doc is wrong. It works perfectly with the K3. Plug it into the back of the radio, turn on bias (read the manual), set mic gain to low, and follow instructions in the K3 manual for setting mic gain. TXEQ -- set the three lowest bands as low as they will go.
