It is likely something that "just happened" and is unrelated to the 
K160RX installation.
However, is there any way that you can describe "distorted".  I can 
think of many ways that a CW note would sound distorted, but a bit more 
information might be helpful to narrow the field of candidates.

If it a a "warbling" type of distortion, check RFC15 on the bottom of 
the RF board for continuity (use the ohmmeter, it will measure 5 volts 
on both sides even if open).
