Ciao Mike, the first time I note the problem I was in 21 MHz working in SSB with the PA. The power of K3 was set to max 50W for 1 KW output of the ampliefier and I see the power drop down to abt 200W output. After I investigate and I switch to FM and CW just to test different condition, the problem is only in SSB and bethween 28 and 21 MHz.
As you say in the mail I just set to 50W, band 28 MHz, SSB mode, say some "oooola" current abt 14A and after some seconds the power drop down, new current abt 4A. Temperature of the PA 35 Celsius. In FM mode current 14A, temperature of the PA slowly go up to 40 Celsius. DC in from 13.9 drop down to 13.3V. The power supply is an MSE MS1228 25A max. http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/8380 If is a current problem why in 50MHz all work fine ? For me is another problems maibe a wrong contact but were ?
