Generally, when one purchases a product, its value depreciates almost immediately in a downward spiral. Elecraft is proving that the reverse can be true. The usability of the K3, terrific from the start, continues to improve with each new firmware update (I'm discounting the little setbacks). I would call this "appreciation". The addition of APF adds a new dimension to this rig that I could not have imagined. To give context here, my last rig was a National NCX-3. When I renewed my interest and bought the K3, it was with the intent of buying a "keeper". Wow...I was right! It *is* a keeper.
There are those nervous about the radio almost perpetually running "beta" firmware. It is just this always moving status and the team behind the development of this code that is the unique element that sets Elecraft apart from the rest of the ham radio equipment manufacturers.
