It's for when you want to use the mic with something that does not provide voltage for the electret element. Contrary to what some Yamaha descriptions says about the mic, it is an electret mic, not a dynamic mic. You do NOT need it with a K3. Simply plug it into the rear panel mic connector, turn on the bias (see the manual), and adjust levels just like you would with any other mic (again, following the directions in the manual. > Plus how do you like the mic on the cm500? I love it, and so do most who have used it. It provides very clean audio, and, using TXEQ can easily be made very competitive for contesting and DXing, or more mellow for casual rag chewing. It sounds better than most Heil mics I've heard. Recommended TXEQ for the CM500 is max cut of the two lowest bands, somewhere between 6dB cut and max cut of the third band, depending on your voice, and flat (0 dB) for the remaining bands. Use the LOW setting for Mic Gain in the Menu. 73, Jim K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
