Hi, Ben! My Elecraft K3 wouldn't work on SSB this sweepstakes weekend, either! I found that I had somehow lost the correct 2.7 kHz crystal filter offset (I alter the configuration of my radios a lot because my job requires it). I removed the crystal filter, noted the -0.91 offset, and put that number into the K3 Utility's crystal filter configuration dialog. Worked like a champ. I sure felt sheepish, though!
A more drastic step if that doesn't work is to go through the Parameter Initialization procedure described on page 68 of the K3 Owner's Manual (I'm using revision D8). If that doesn't work, contact K3support at Elecraft.com For RTTY decoding, most of the people I talk to with this problem would get better results if they used the CW TUN display to correctly tune in the signal, or perhaps Text Decode hasn't been turned on. My tone sense isn't good enough to do this without a visual tuning aid. You kind of need to have the signal relatively alone; maybe a big DX pileup isn't the best place to try to get this working. One of the external RTTY decoders, like MMTTY, might be a better choice for a more ambitious RTTY decoder for a "hostile" DX pileup environment. I have wkd one QSO on RTTY and just heard ZL8X on 30m with good copy. So I tried to call but nothing happens and I have followed the manual instructions. Any hint? And my K3 (2066) won't work on SSB either.... On the other end, it's great on CW! 73 de Ben SM6CKU ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
