On my laptop I use a USB to serial adapter for the radio. On my desktop I use a serial port. I happened to try the USB-serial adapter on my desktop for the radio and I got a BSOD. Sounds like I should try a different USB-serial adapter for the radio. I currently use a Keyspan USA19HS that normally works super.
