I have had an MFJ-1910 for a while now for portable setups. Really like it. Quality seems good. The top section is a tad light (about like a fishing pole). In fact the whole thing is rather like a gigantic collapsable fishing pole. I use a 33' length of #24 MIL SPEC hookup wire as an antenna and two to four 33' lengths as the radial system laid on the ground 90 degrees apart. I can get by with two radials in South Louisiana soil and had to use four in poorer Texas soil (around Belton) to achieve same results with the QRP rig. I would NOT use it to support a light dipole unless the top section was collapsed. (Erected as an "inverted vee"
