Brian... The hole is threaded to accept a corresponding bolt with an enlarged end for finger tightening. The idea is for the threaded bolt to hold a ground wire/strap to the K2. I found this arrangement difficult to use in my particular setup. So, I inserted a bolt from the inside out and then used a wing nut on the outside to hold my grounding strap. This has worked for me. YMMV.
