Yes, the CM500 will plug directly into the rear jacks on the K3.  Set  
the MIC selection to RP and press the [1] key to set it to "L" or low  
level.  Now use the [2] key to cycle to "Bias".  Once you have the  
headset, go thru the normal mic gain and compression adjustments.   
You'll find the mic gain to be set pretty low (prob less then 20) and  
adjust comp to get about 10db on the COMP scale.  I'm trying to  
remember, but I think I have the TX EQ set to -16 -16 -16 0 0 0 0 0.   
My widest filter is 2.8KHz so I haven't tried AM or FM so far.
