Hi Larry,
Well, maybe my english ain't 20/20 in expressing the reality as I feel it. When
I said artifacts it doesn't mean something "extra" besides the signal. It's more
the way the signals sound. There is a sort of "echoes" like the voices are
pronounced is a large, empty room, if you know what I mean. I am proud of
having a very good musical ear that's why I am also able to detect the slight
"distorsions"introduced by the A/D D/A conversions and manipulations in the DSP
processor. They are not annoying but, as I said, I have to get used with them.
From what I've heard, they are specific to digital proccessing.
All these I noticed in SSB mode only when noise reduction and/or notch are
engaged. The audio filters provided by the KDSP2 do not introduce any
distortion as far as I can tell.
In CW mode I could not sense any distortion.
If you are a CW only guy, you might consider KAF2 instead. What I can advice
you is to try and listen someones K2 fitted with the KDSP2 and decide then
accordingly. Listen also the samples posted on the Elecraft site in the KDSP2
section. My KDSP2 sounds exactly the same.

Hello, Cristian

Glad you like your KDSP2.

I may purchase one soon, and am curious what you mean by artifacts it generates
due to digital processing.

What are the artifacts?

Thanks & 73,
