Mike - The K3 is a software defined transceiver so needs time to boot up and to close down. You should always switch off your K3 with the Power switch on the front panel. Switching off the power at the supply would be like shutting your computer off at the supply without first closing down Windows. If the K3 power is cut, it will take time to recover when you next switch it on. That would be a risk as it might even cause some corruption of the firmware.
