Ed, Before you mount the metalwork to the front panel board, it is time to install the components from your KSB2 option to that board. The KSB2 parts list will indicated the parts to go on the front panel board. After those parts are added, the Mic Adapter can be assembled and installed at any time - I would wait until you have finished with the Control Board and the first Alignment and Test section. Then you can easily add the IMA assembly. It plugs onto the K2 microphone configuration header with no soldering there, but there is assembly for the IMA itself. The IMA instructions have notes regarding clearances from a capacitor on the RF board and you should check the fit between the Front panel and the control board, so both should be present when you install the IMA.
