Tom,
Thanks for the reply. I have been following that same
convention in all component installations so far, and I
was mostly sure about the inductors, but I wanted to ask
the experts to be sure. I want my KX1 to work first time!
And so far, so good.
Thanks again to all who responded.

Hi Matt:
Inductors have no polarity, so may be installed either
direction. However, it is common practice (as with
resistors and capacitors as well) to install all
components in one of two orientations (horiz, or vert.)
so that they can be properly read (decoded, if you will)
when the PC board is held in one of two positions
(horizontally or vertically). So you might want to
consider installing the RFCs so they're all pointed the
same way... their bands pointing the same way.

I am in the process of building a KX1 (#1125). I'm at
the stage of
installing 7 inductors for the receiver stage, and I have
a question.
The inductors look similar to resistors, but on the KX1
board, the outline
for each inductor has markings as if the inductor is to
be placed only one
way. The manual does not make any distinction either
way.
Can these inductors be installed in either direction or
must they be
installed in a specific way like a diode would be?
Thanks.
