I bought the standard mic from Elecraft with my K3 kit. I thought it quite
an expensive option.
It works perfectly well, but it is somewhat bulky.
The K3 has such a vast range of audio adjustment on rx and tx I have tried
many other mics on it and all work perfectly well. I am very particular
about audio quality. And do serous on air tests with other stations.
But probably 95% of my use is on CW.
As I prefer to use a headset, I bought 5 electret inserts at a rally for
one pound (for 5) and made up a boom device
These seem to be at least as good, or better than all the other mics I have
tried. so the convenience and neatness of the headset/boom has made the
standard mic almost redundant.
20 pence is my idea of good value!
