When I got my K3 kit, that was my very first experience of APP
connectors. Yes I've been playing with radios since the late 1940s .
Initially it looks a somewhat flimsy device and after soldering the wires
carefully I found the plugs were very easy to pull out, in fact virtually
fell out. Further investigation and logical thought made me realise the
problem. Exactly as Lew K6LMP described- if the solder was applied
properly and the locking edge cleaned up with a small file, the do in fact
lock in extremely well and I am now a complete convert to the design. Every
other type of 20 amp capability connector I have ever used gets warm - proof
of wasted power. Not the Anderson !!
