Follow-up to my original post. If I short PTT (pin 2) on the front panel microphone connector to either shell or ground (pin 8) the radio goes into transmit with NO hum. Similarly if I short Mic Audio (pin 1) to shell or ground with VOX enabled the radio transmits with no hum. So perhaps it is the microphone.
