Hey Phil. I have my iMac not 10 inches away form my rig without a problem. I don't think the computer needs to be grounded with the exception of the ground fault connection in the AC cable going to the outlet. When we get bad weather though, I do disconnect my rig from the antenna and I also disconnect the "Serial to USB" cable from the rig to my computer just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps.
