Mike, This was one of the many different symptoms I had as a result of bad contacts on the 4 front panel connectors. Remove the front panel, not forgetting to take out that 3D block screw on the left hand side, give the connectors a good clean and apply a thin film of 'Contralube' or some similar electrical lubricant and replace.
