Hi,
thanks for the input. I'm not actually concerned about split (although
you have a good point there), rather about the usefulness of having a
memory that can store both vfo A and B, but you can't recall B if it's
not already on the same band. 
And yes, I really need to put that antenna back up and get to actually
use the new radio I have, instead of playing with memories and remote
control <g>
