Back around 1955 or so, I built an Altec-Lansing audio amplifier from a kit. Although that company had a pretty good reputation at the time, this device wasn't anything to boast about. It used eyelets to interconnect both sides of the PC boards and many of them had poor conductivity (that technology should never have seen the light of day--I have also seen Motorola and Icom products which also suffered from intermittent eyelets).
