One thing that seems to work fairly well is that if you have the 2nd RX, you can have both on AM, but shift the 2nd RX by around 2.7kHz or 2.8kHz with respect to the 1st RX. In effect, it gives you AM bandwidth of about 5.6kHz. Of course that means you don't get diversity RX.
